Two-member police team reaches Hyderabad to conduct probe
Chennai, Sep 9 (UNI) A two-member police team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (St Thomas Mount) had reached Hyderabad to probe into the seizure of rocket launchers and other ammunitions, meant for Maoists in Andhra Pradesh, which was reportedly booked from a lorry office in Chennai city.
Police sources said the other member of the team, headed by DCP Arun, was an armoury expert attached with the city armed police wing.
The sources said the team held its priliminary enquiries with the officials concerned in Hyderabad and was expected to return to the city tomorrow.
A two-member team from Andhra Pradesh was conducting a joint investigation with the city police here and another police team was expected from Andhra Pradesh to conduct a detailed investigations into the reported allegations that the seized launchers and other ammunitions had been made at a place near the city, the sources added.
City Police Commissioner Latika Saran told newspersons here today based on the information given by the staff members of the private lorry booking office at Ambattur from where the ammunitions were booked to Andhra Pradesh, the city police had drawn a computer picture of the person who had allegedly booked the parcel.
Andhra Police seized rocket launchers and ammunitions from different parts of Mahabubnagar and Prakasam districts of Andhra Pradesh yesterday.
Initial enquiries revealed that the arms parcel had been booked from a lorry office at suburb Ambattur.
