Hyderabad, Sept 9: Union Minister of Law and Justice H R Bhardwaj today said the Centre was committed to modernising and strengthening the judicial system of the country.

Addressing a gathering of Judicial Officers, including retired judges at a function on 'National Initiative on Development of the State Policy for Access to Justice for victims and survivors of Trafficking and HIV/AIDs, here, he said courts in the country would be computerised as part of augmenting the system.

He said the Centre would release Rs 1000 crore for the computerisation.

He said village courts will be established very soon to provide access to judicial remedy to the poor and the common man.

He said 6000 Judicial Officers will visit the villages and transact in regional languages to dispose off cases within three months.

He said the main objective of the judicial system was to provide justice to all especially the poor and the downtrodden. Many people in villages were not aware of the legal aid systems.

He said the Judiciary system in the country was one of the most independent in the world. The Bar, Bench and the Litigant must work in cohesion for disposing justice to the common people. It was a fact that the common and poor people were denied justice.

The onus for the change rests on the law fraternity.
