UNI workers to oppose company's equity sale
New Delhi, Sep 8 (UNI) An emergency General Body Meeting of the UNI Workers' Union held today decided to vehemently oppose the reported move of UNI Board of Directors to sell 60 per cent equity of the company to a media organisation.
The General Body announced the constitution of a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to fight this reported move.
''More than 1,000 employees of the company were kept in the dark and an unholy deal was struck with a newspaper group,'' the UNI Workers' Union said in a statement.
The Union unanimously constituted a 14-member JAC to fight the reported move of the UNI Board of Directors. The JAC would chart out an action plan soon to stop the deal using all available democratic options under its command, it said.
The members of the JAC are: Mohal Lal Joshi (Convenor), Ashok Tuteja, S Suresh, Kuldeep Singh Arora, Jaspal Singh Sidhu, Prakash Chawla, R Sedhuraman, Mukesh Kaushik, Rajesh Kumar, Swaraj Sharma, Mahabir Singh Bisht, B B Tiwari, Abdus Salam and M L Choudhary.
