Two-day meeting of NERPC to be held from Sept 12
Agartala, Sep 08 (UNI) A two-day important meeting of North Eastern Region Power Committee (NERPC) would be held here from September 12 to discuss various important issues relating to power projects in the North Eastern Region.
All the Power Ministers of NE states except Sikkim would participate in the meeting, which would take place here for the second time, NERPC Chairman and Tripura Power Minister Manik Dey informed.
The last meeting of the committee was held in Aizawl. On the opening day, officers level meeting would be held and the ministerial level meeting takes place the next day to discuss in details about the prospects of the Monarchak gas-based power project in south district of the state and to implement other projects of the region.
All the power ministers of the region would ask the Centre to implement the abandoned Monarchak power project and other projects of the region, besides discussion would be held on the NE regions' power scenerio.
He alleged that the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) has taken access money as power tarrif from the entire NE region, including Tripura. From Tripura alone the NEEPCO had taken away additional Rs 5 crore and from Assam Rs 30 crores and following the reports, Tripura had registered a case with the NERPC against NEEPCO and the verdict had gone in favour of the state, Mr Dey added.
