Total foreign reserves up at USD 166.458 bn

Mumbai, Sep 8 (UNI) According to the weekly statistical report presented by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) the total foreign reserves as on September one, went up by US dollar 132 million to USD 166.458 billion compared to 166.326 billion last week.

The foreign currency assets, as on September one grew by USD 1.152 billion to USD 159.152 billion as compared to USD 158 billion last week.

Besides, maintaining the best international practice, India's reserve position in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as on Sep one however declined by one million to 76.7 billion compared to the previous week's figure of USD 76.8 billion.

As on August 25 loans provided to the state governments stood at Rs 487 crore.

Total bank credit as on Aug 25 stood at Rs 15,49,753 crore.

Out of this, food credit was at Rs 36,366 crore and the non-food credit was at Rs 15,49,753 crore.

Besides, the outstandings that accrued out of the accommodation provided by the scheduled commercial banks to commercial sector in the form of bank credit and investment shares/debentures and bonds as on August 18 was Rs 73,172 crore. This figure is derived after deducting the March 31 figure of Rs 15,45,851 crore from the August 18 figure of Rs 16,19,023 crore.
