SS0 demands Muslim minister in UPA govt in J'kahnd
Jamshedpur, Sep 8 (UNI) With the chances of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) forming a government in Jharkhand after the ruling NDA was reduced to minority, the Secular Social Organisation(SSO) today demanded representation of Muslims in the proposed ministry.
The national executive committee meeting of SSO presided over by Nasar Firdausi adopted a unanimous resolution demanding at least one cabinet post for the Muslims.
He also demanded that the minister be given the minority welfare portfolio in the proposed ministry.
Dr Firdausi, who is also a central committee member of Jharkahnd Mukti Morcha (JMM), said the party high command should keep in mind the interests of the 23 per cent Muslims of the state.
He said since the JMM was the single largest party with 17 MLAs in the Assembly, it should influence other partners of the alliance to ensure the participation of the Muslim community.
Dr Firdausi further demanded proper representation of intellectuals in the party saying the JMM lacked a proper think tank.
The SSO has also faxed a copy of the proposal to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
