Sensex marginally strong; trades at 11,900 mark
Mumbai, Sept 8: On the back of global rebound in performance compared to yesterday, the BSE Sensex fought back to open in the green, though marginally by six points, it kept the momentum and gained almost 60 points to currently trade at 11, 900.32 points.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) earlier opened at 11,859 points compared to yesterday's 11,853 points, as the crude oil price touched the five-month low of US dollar 66 per barrel mark. Japan's Nikkei 225 average, which was in the red by the morning session, fought back and was up about 80 points for the day.
Amongst the sectoral indices on the BSE, all except IT were up in the green. IT sector was down 0.09 per cent.
Top gainers on the index were Reliance Communications, Hindalco, Maruti Udyog, Reliance Energy, BHEL, Hero Honda, Cipla, Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Auto - all up from 0.74 to 3.57 per cent.
Besides, the losers were Infosys, HDFC, ONGC, Wipro, Reliance Industries, Dr Reddy's Lab, Ranbaxy, Hindustan lever and Grasim Industries, all down from 0.03 to 0.79 per cent.
