Admission to mgt seats in med colleges uncertain
Kochi, Sept 8: P A Mohammad Admission Supervisory Committee has held the entrance examination conducted by a consortium of private medical colleges in Kerala was not fair and transparent, putting a question mark over the fate of the students admitted to these colleges under the management quota.
In its report, which was finalised last night and is to be submitted to the state government today, the committee has left it to the government to take appropriate action.
The committee found admissions to the 50 per cent management quota seats was not fair and transparent and merit did not appear to the be criterion for the admissions.
The entrance examination was not publicised and the students were never told about the marks secured by them in the written examination, it noted.
The Supreme Court, while upholding the managements' right to make admissions to 50 per cent seats for this year, had, however, said the government could step in if the examination procedure was found to be unfair and exploitative.
The Apex Court had directed the Mohammad Committee to submit its report to the state government by September eight.
