Job given to bereaved families of dead miners by BCCL

Dhanbad, Sep 8 (UNI) With all the 50 bodies trapped inside the Bhat-Dih mine of Nagda Colliery recovered, the BCCL today gave appointment letters to a member each from the 49 bereaved families as announced by Mr Sibu Soren yesterday.

The BCCL authorities were scrutinising the official document of remaining one, official sources told UNI adding the BCCL's commitment for welfare of the victimised family members would always remain on the priority agenda.

Menawhile, a high-level departmental inquiry has been constituted to probe the accident which was asked to submit its report within 15 days.

A three-member committee was set up under the chairmanship of Mr S Choudhry, CMD, Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Ltd.

The other members are Mr L Jha, director, (technical) and Mr Mohammad Salim Uddin, director (projects) of CIL, an official spokesperson said here.

Coal Minister Sibu Soren, who rushed to the spot yesterday, had announced Rs three lakh compensation to each of the deceased's families, besides job assurance to a member from each of the families.

Mr Soren said a judicial inquiry would be conducted to find the reason leading to the disaster.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda, after attending a programme on centenary celebration of Vande Mataram in the state capital yesterday, said the government would bear the expenses of treatment and announced Rs one lakh to the next of the kin of the deceased.
