Israel confirms Lebanon sea blockade lifted

JERUSALEM, Sep 8 (Reuters) Israel today confirmed it had lifted its naval blockade of Lebanon, ending an eight-week-old embargo imposed after Hizbollah seized two soldiers in a cross-border raid.

''The blockade has ended,'' said Miri Eisin, a spokeswoman for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. ''Israeli ships have been given the orders to turn over the implementation of the arms embargo to the international force.
