Govt to release water to 7,52,000 acres by Nov this year

Hyderabad, Sep 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah today said nearly 7,52,000 acres would get water for irrigation by end of November this year.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the water would be released for irrigation by the government as promised under Jalayagnam.

He said in the first phase, the government would release water for irrigation to 8500 acres from Peddagadda reservoir in Vijanagaram district on September 10.

Similarly, from Surrampally in East Godavari district, water would be released for irrigating 10,000 acres and from Alimineti Madhava Reddy (AMR) project water to be released to 50,000 acres. On the same day foundation stone would be laid for the construction of pump house for low level canal of AMR Project. All these programmes would be launched by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, he said.
