GGP office-bearer held for insulting natl song

Seoni, Sept 8: GGP Minorities Front office-bearer Mohammad Ismail has been arrested in this district for issung a clarion call to boycott singing of the National Song 'Vande Mataram', police said yesterday.

District President Ismail was apprehended on Wednesday for violating sections 153 and 124 of the IPC and remanded to 15 days' judicial custody. He had issued a release urging members of his community not to send their children for mass singing of the song today.

Meanwhile, GGP Madhya Pradesh President Gulzar Singh Markam told sources in Bhopal that it would not be proper to link his party with Ismail's act.

''Until the charges are dropped, he is sacked from his post,'' Mr Markam added.
