Four Italian soldiers wounded in Afghanistan

ROME, Sep 8 (Reuters) Four Italian soldiers were wounded, one seriously, in a roadside explosion today near the city of Farah, the Defence Ministry said.

A statement said what it called an ''improvised explosive device'' went off when an Italian military vehicle was passing.

It said the four were being evacuated for medical treatment.

Italy has some 1,900 soldiers in Afghanistan deployed under a NATO-led force.
