Aranmula snake boat festival to be held tomorrow

Pathanamthitta, Sep 8 (UNI) The historic Aranmula Uthruttathi snake boat festival will be held in river Pampa tomorrow.

The snake-boat regatta, organised by Palliyoda Seva Sangham, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan at a function to be presided over by Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

Prior to the race, a colourful pageantry of 38 participating 'palliyodams' will be held at 1330 hrs. The race course begins at Koothadathu Kadavu and ends at Parappuzha Kadavu.

The pageantry will comprise floats displaying traditional Kerala arts and be led by the sacred 'Thiruvonathoni.' The snake-boat race would be flagged of at 1500 hrs by Water Resources Minister N K Premachandran.
