9 fresh cases of Leptospirosis reported in Surat

Surat, Sep 8 (UNI) Nine new cases of leptospirosis were reported from across the city.

Dr Vikas Ben Desai, Head of Preventive Medicine Department of Surat Medical College, who is monitoring the epidemic situation in the city after the floods, told UNI nine fresh cases of leptospirosis were reported from various parts of the city.

''However, these cases are not critical,'' she added.

According to Dr Desai no leptospirosis deaths were reported either yesterday or today. ''The health situation of the city is improving,'' Dr Desai said.

She, however, did not reveal the total number of Leptospirosis deaths till date. Various unofficial sources, however, say at least two leptospirosis deaths are being reported daily from various hospitals of the city.
