Vande Mataram recited in most primary and secondary schools

Agartala, Sep 7 (UNI) The National song '' Vande Mataram'' was recited in most of the primary and secondary educational institutions throughout the state to mark its 100th year.

The song was recited in most of the schools in Agartala as well as in the neighbouring areas.

Sources said that the song was sung in other parts of the state too.

The Left Front Government had issued notifications to all the primary and secondary institutions in the state to sing at least two stanzas of the national song on the ocassion of its centenary celebration.

'' Though we have sent notifications to the schools, it was not mandatory to sing the national song. It depands on the institutional heads, '' said a top official of the Education department.

It was not yet confirmed whether the national song was sung in any of the madrassas in the state.
