Vande Mataram recited at Govt offices, Madrasas in MP
Bhopal, Sep 7 (UNI) Employees in all government offices and local bodies and students in Madrasas and other educational institutions across Madhya Pradesh today joined in chorus singing of Vande Mataram to mark its centenary.
On the directive of the BJP government, chorus singing was held at the State Secretariat, government offices, local bodies and educational institutions.
The national song, translated into Urdu, was sung in over 5,000 madrasas, where 2.75 lakh students were enrolled, State Madrasa Board chairman S K Muddin said.
In the state capital, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took part in tbe recital at state BJP office as also at the Mantralaya.
Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni led the officers of state secretariat and department headquarters.
Shiv Sena and Bajrang Dal workers took out rallies on the occasion.
Since Governor Balram Jakhar was out of station, his Principal Secretary Bhupal Singh led the recital at Raj Bhavan, while DGP Swaraj Puri led the chorus at police headquarters.
At MPCC office, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jamuna Devi hoisted the tricolour and led chorus singing of the national song.
Muslim employees took part in chorus singing in government offices, an official spokesman said.
For about a year, recital of Vande Mataram was made compulsory in the state secretariat and district collector's offices across the state on the first working day of every month.
