Vande Mataram echoes in MP Govt offices
Bhopal, Sep 5(UNI) Vande Mataram, which inspired many freedom fighters in their fight against the British, reverberated in government offices, educational institutions and party offices across Madhya Pradesh today to mark the centenary of the national song.
On the directive of the BJP government, chorus singing of the national song was held at the Mantralaya, government offices, local bodies and educational institutions.
Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni led the chorus singing at the garden in front of the Mantralaya, where officials of the state Secretariat and department headquarters joined in.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan attended the collective singing at the state BJP office. Officials took part in chorus singing at Raj Bhavan and Vidhan Sabha also.
At MPCC office, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jamuna Devi hoisted the national flag and led chorus singing of Vande Mataram, penned by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and later adopted as national song.
Muslim employees took part in chorus singing in goverment offices, an official spokesman said.
