Union Rural Development Minister to review Social Audit on NREGA
Hyderabad, Sep 7 (UNI) Union Minister for Rural Development Raghuvansh Prasad and Union Minister for state for Commerce Jairam Ramesh will attend the plenary session to review Andhra Pradesh government's initiative of Social Audit under National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) in 600 villages of Anantapur district.
Talking to newsmen here, Andhra Pradesh Rural Development Minister D Srinivas said the state government was fully committed to implement NREGA in such a way that the wage seekers secure their rights and entitlements as envisaged under the Act without any deviations.
He said the State Rural Development Department has evolved the Andhra Pradesh Rural Employment Gurantee Scheme.
''Till now 44,22,641 job cards have been issued to the wage seekers and employment has been provided to 12,02,858 labourers covering 8,46,158 households. In all, 744 works have been completed and 55,899 works are in progress involving an expenditure of 12761.91 lakh in the state'', he explained.
