Two Bangladeshis killed as Indian BSF fires 50 shots into Bangladesh
Dhaka, Sep 7 (UNI) Indian Border Security Force (BSF) reportedly fired 50 shots over Mandumala border into Bangladesh territory in northern Thakurgaon district early today, leaving two farmers dead.
The two deceased were identified as Saheb Ali, 25, and Mujibur Rahman, 45, of Bansbari village in Baliadangi sub-district.
Quoting sources in 20 Rifles Battalion in Thakurgaon district, UNB news agency said BSF men of Belagachi camp fired about 50 bullets when the two Bangladeshis went to irrigate land at a location between main frontier pillars 383 and 384.
The two men died on the spot. The Indian border guards later dragged the bodies over to their land, said official and local sources.
Lieutenant Colonel Rafiq Ahmed, commander of the 20 Rifles Battalion, said a letter was sent to the BSF authorities in protest against the incident.
BDR, on loudspeakers, warned local people from going near the border after showing 'red alert' in the border areas in the district.
The Indian border guards have fired on Bangladesh land in greater Dinajpur in the last two weeks killing a total of nine Bangladeshis.
