Trinamool, CPI(M) ready to fight it out in Katwa

Durgapur, Sep 7 (UNI) A tough fight is expected at the Katwa parliamentary by-polls between CPI(M)'s Abu Ayes Mondal and Sushanta Ghosh of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), following an alliance between the Congress and AITC.

In the last election, CPI(M) candidate Mehaboob Zahadi had won from Katwa with a margin of 1,43,349 votes.

Total voters in this constituency are 11,82,519 with 95 per cent of the electorate having voter identity cards.

Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Left Front chairman Biman Basu are scheduled to the hectic election campaigns in the constituency.
