Sub-treasury officer dismissed

Hyderabad, Sep 7 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government has dismissed the former sub-treasury officer of Maheswaram in Rangareddy district in an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) trap case.

According to official sources, Ahmed Abdul Jaleel was trapped in November 2002 by the ACB when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 1,500 from a retired community health officer for passing his retirement benefit bills.

In another case, the Special Judge for ACB cases Nellore convicted and sentenced Superintendent of the Mandal Revenue Office of Chapadu in Kadapa district C Subbarayadu to undergo six months R I and pay a fine of Rs 300 for offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Earlier, the official was trapped by the ACB in November 1998 when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 500 from a complainant.

ACB officers today conducted simultaneous searches in the residences of the Deputy Executive Engineer, Prakasam District Scheduled Caste Service Society Ltd Ongole and unearthed property worth Rs 55 lakh.

The accused official M Vijaya Kumar was arrested and would be produced before the Special Judge for ACB cases Nellore, according to an ACB release here today.
