Students recite Vande Mataram in Meghalaya
Shillong, Sep 7 (UNI) The students in Meghalaya today recited 'Vande Mataram' in their respective educational institutions.
State Governor M M Jacob also joined the chorus with the students of Laban Bengali Girls Secondary Schools at Raj Bhawan.
Chief Secretary S K Tiwari was invited to B K Bajoria school to celebrate the centenary of the national song.
Mr Tiwari explained the significance of 'Vande Mataram' to the students here, sources said.
The BJP state unit also celebrated the centenary of the National Song by singing it at the party office.
'Vande Mataram', composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1876, was first recited by Rabindra Nath Tagore and later adopted as National Song on September seven in 1905.
