Monchengladbach, Sep 7 (UNI) After conceding the second successive defeat in the hockey World Cup, Indian coach Vasudevan Bhaskaran today said the yellow rpt yellow card to Hari Prasad changed the complexion of the game.
''We were leading by a goal and settling into a rhythm after the first goal and Hari Prasad was shown the card in the 49th minute.
And as you saw, England scored two goals subsequently and that was the turning point of the match,'' said a visibly upset Bhaskaran.
The coach, however, put up a brave front and said he has not yet lost faith on his wards.
''I think last match's frustration was still fresh in their mind.
They could not forget that despite playing so well, they had to lose the match against Germany. They were quite upset and that affected their show today.
''However, not everything is lost. We still have three matches and nine points to play form'' he added.
Bhaskaran, however, admitted that India failed as a team today.
''We played very soft hockey. Our forwards were not up to the mark and we made too many mistakes in the midfield. And we conceded far too many balls as well. And we fumbled when it came to penalty corner conversion. One out of just four is not a very good conversion rate after all,'' he added.
