Revival of district decentralisd planning policy welcomed
Itanagar, Sep 07 (UNI) Reviving the District Decentralized Planning (DDP) policy again, the Arunachal Pradesh government has released Rs one crore to each of the 16 districts to take urgent and need-based schemes without depending on the state planning, Finance and Planning Minister Kalikho Pul said.
The DDP body, headed by the respective Deputy Commissioner with the direct involvement of all elected representatives of the respective district, would finalise the schemes to be executed with the fund, Mr Pul said yesterday.
Appealing to the planners to create permanent assets to meet the immediate needs of the people, the Minister exhorted the field officers and executing agencies to spend the money judiciously on the time-bound schemes.
The DC and local leaders should monitor the implementation of the schemes in a transparent manner, he said adding the people being the beneficiaries should also shoulder the responsibility of keeping a tab on these developmental activities.
Quoting the Chief Minister, who had said that never before so much development was achieved in a year while taking part in budget discussion in March last, Mr Pul said the DDP was yet another proof of the revolutionised planning process to make development visible and beneficial for the people throughout the state.
Thanking state Chief Minister Gegong Apang for reintroducing the policy, independent MLA R K Khrimey described it as a welcome step.
The DDP would help implement small but important projects to meet local needs, he said.
Though BJP Legislator Techi Hemu desired that equal share should be given to each Assembly constituency and priority schemes should be taken up, he said the DDP would help meet the expectations of the people.
