Pondy police arrest youth for bomb hoax call
Pondicherry, Sept 7 (UNI) Police today arrested a youth who gave a bomb threat to a private school at Lawspet near here today.
Addressing newspersons, Superintendent of Police (North) Ramesh Kandan said the Vivekananda Higher Secondry School received a call at 1250 hrs stating that the call was from Tindivanam and a bomb had been planted in the school. The school Principal informed the police who traced the number from the caller id of the school which happened to be a phone at Maduvupet near Lawspet.
Police rushed to the spot and found the phone to be an instrument in a shop which could be used after dropping a one rupee coin. On interrogation it came to know that S Senthil Murugan (30) son of the shop keeper made the call. He was arrested, Mr Ramesh said.
He also said that the police kept the threat a secret only since, the parents of the students were already panicked after yesterday's threat.
Senthilmurugan was being interrogated, he added.
