Pang Lhabsol festival celebrated in Sikkim
Gangtok, Sep 7 (UNI) Pang Lhabsol, a religious festival for tribal people in sikkim, was celebrated today with reverence and traditional fervour.
People offered prayers at monasteries and home across the state.
All educational institutions and state government offices remained closed, as the day being observed as public holiday to enable the people to celebrate the festival.
The Pang Lhabsol Celebration Committee for -Statue of Unity- which celebrated marked the festival as ''Unity Day'' held essay and painting competitions along with cultural programmes signifying the importance of the festival.
Sikkim Governor V Rama Rao stressed the need for greater unity among different sections of people. He said the festival was basically for Bhutia and Lepcha communities but it later brought all sections of people under its fold.
