No official celebration of 'Vande Mataram' in Arunachal

Itanagar, Sep 7 (UNI) No official function was organised in Arunachal Pradesh for singing 'Vande Mataram' on the occasion of the centenary celebration of the national song.

However, many political parties, including educational institutions recited the song, to mark the occasion.

The state government had not issued any notification making the singing mandatory, while the state units of the BJP and the Congress Seva Dal recited the song in their respective offices throughout the state.

Many government and private schools in the state organised mass recitation of 'Vande Mataram' but missionary schools did not sing the song.
