NCP smells conspiracy in the release of Telgi tapes
Mumbai, Sep 7 (UNI) Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today said there was 'some conspiracy' behind the release of Telgi tapes on various news channels, aired at the same time and alleged that this was the attempt of character assassination of their leaders.
In a joint release issued by NCP State Unit President Arun Gujarathi and Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, they said the allegations were made with a motive to damage the public image of their leaders and added prime accused in the fake stamp paper scam Abdul Karim Telgi was deliberately making such statements.
The statement further said, it was PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal, who was instrumental in investing the Telgi scam and added that NCP president Sharad Pawar in his 45 years of political carrer has immensely contributed for the welfare of common man.
The statement added that all the workers of the NCP are standing firmly behind Mr Pawar and Mr Bhujbal and condemn such attempts of character assassination.
The TV channels yesterday aired Telgi's statements disclosing the names of Pawar and Bhujbal in the multi-crore stamp paper scam.
