Naxal leader Rajanna in police custody
Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 7 (UNI) The Karimnagar Police today took into custody CPI(ML) Janashakti Central Committee Secretary Rajanna who had been in judicial custody in this district after his recent arrest.
Rajanna was recently arrested by the Andhra Pradesh Police along with four other naxals in Uttar Pradesh. They were produced before Metpally Court in Karimnagar District which sent them into judicial custody.
Later, Rajanna was shifted to the Warangal Central Jail.
Today, the Karimnagar Police brought a court order and wanted to take into their custody Rajanna in connection with cases pending in Metpally limits.
But Rajanna told Warangal Central Prison Superintendent Narsimha Reddy that he was afraid to go with them as 'he would be subjected to third degree torture.' Later, the jail authorities called for Human Rights Activist Burra Ramulu and managed to convince Rajanna to go with the police.
Rajanna demanded the police should question him in the presence of a doctor and an advocate. However, the Karimnagar Police took Rajanna into their custody.
A petition was filed in Karimnagar Court seeking permission for police to interrogate Rajanna in presence of a doctor and an advocate.
