Mizoram governemnt to introduce Municipalities bill
Aizawl, Sep 7 (UNI) Mizoram government has decided to adopt 74th amendment of the constitution by introducing Mizoram Municipalities Bill, 2006, in the next assembly session.
Local Administration Department (LAD) Commissioner R.K. Thanga today said the bill which was with him for rectification was vetted again to the Law department for approval.
The LAD is looking after both urban and rural areas in respect to local administration, which were facing problems in receiving funds because the state was yet to have any kind of urban local body.
Once the bill was adopted and passed the state will receive funds from the Centre.
Mr Thanga stated that Chief Minister Zoramthanga led cabinet okayed it and the municipalities will come up in Aizawl and Lunglei initially.
