Mah can be ecozone of India:Deshmukh

Mumbai, Sep 7 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said the entire state could become the economic zone of India and urged the industrialists to look beyond Mumbai-Pune-Thane-Nasik belt and go in rural areas for industrialisation.

Speaking at the centenary year celebration of the Indian Merchants Chamber, Mr Deshmukh said the state government would give 'red carpet' welcome to all the entrepreneurs going in rural areas.

Quoting Mahatma Gandhi, Mr Deshmukh said the father of the nation had stressed for the all round development of villages.

Maharashtra has got a good infrastructure with power, roads, information technology and has got maximum special economic zones.

He said according to Reserve Bank of India report, the state is at its numero uno position with the highest investment intentions.

IMC has done immense contribution for the development in the country and maintaining connections with the overseas chambers and trying hard to make India a leader in the era of globalisation, he added.

Union Minister of state for communication and information technology Dr Shakeel Ahmed, who released a postal stamp on the occasion to honour IMC for completion of centenary in his speech, said chamber was catalyst for promotion of trade and industry.

He also said the Indian postal department was also doing various innovative things in the department in order to cater the people and to reach every where.

Principal Chief Post master General Ms K Noorjehan, President IMC Nayan Patel, co chairman of the centenary celebration committee Ram Gandhi also spoke on the occasion while seven IMC trustees were also felicitated on the occasion.
