HP to spend $3bln to promote new Integrity product line

New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) Announcing the launch of its new Integrity Servers here today, Hewlett-Packard (HP) said it will spend 3 billion dollars in the next one year for the world-wide marketing of its new product line.

The marketing process will involve advertisements in print and electronic media, organising customer focussed events, industry focussed events, road shows and channel and distributor programmes, besides training its customers.

''The company will spend a huge sum of around three billion dollars towards promotion of the new Integrity product line,'' HP Country Business Manager (Business Critical Servers) Kamal Dutta told UNI here.

The newly introduced products include rx3600 and rx6600 servers besides zx2 chipsets and a Dual Core Intel Itanium 2 Processor.

HP Enterprise Storage and Servers Director (Business Devlopment for Asia pacific and Japan) Vish Mulchand said the new server line up, will help customers stay ahead of changing business and IT demands and enable them to build cost-effective, next generation data centres.

Stating that the Integrity Servers offer two times better price performance than IBM pSeries, he said the new servers provide four times of the storage capacity and three times the energy efficiency of the previous generation, and slash power and cooling costs by up to 50 per cent.

HP is targeting firms in manufacturing, banking, insurance, retail, finance, communication and telecom and is in talks with a number of companies for the installation of its new products.

It is also looking at expanding to verticals like pharma, public sector and education.

Commercial Vehicle major Ashok Leyland, Bharat Forge Ltd and Videocon are among the few customers who have alreday chosen the Integrity line.

The company has a market presence of about 40 per cent in India as per the recent IDC report and 50 per cent of its revenues come from the Integrity business.

Multiple operating systems are now available on all new HP Integrity Servers including HP-UX, Windows, Linux, OpenVMS as well as on a new version of HP OpenVMS v8.3.
