Haryana assures all possible assistance to Maruti Udyog
New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has assured Maruti Udyog Ltd for every possible assistance and facilities for its production and expansion projects in the state.
At a dinner meeting here last night, Mr Hooda assured Mr O Suzuki, Chairman and CEO of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, that effective steps have been taken to provide infrastructure support for accelerating the pace of industrial development in the state.
He said that a 2000 MW power plant would be set up by Reliance India Ltd in the Special Economic Zone in Gurgaon district and the power generation by this plant would be supplied to the industrial units in Manesar.
Besides this, the state has plans to add about 5000 MW of new generation capacity by 2010, he added.
Mr Hooda said that the Haryana was considering an offer from Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Singh Modi to set up a dedicated port at Gujarat for facilitating export-oriented industrial units in Haryana, which the state government would be finalising its construction with the Centre.
Mr Suzuki said that better infrastructure facilities like ports, railways and roads would be required for moving their production from the manufacturing location in Manesar for domestic destinations and exports.
Maruti Suzuki intends to bring in massive investments in Haryana alongwith Nissan Motors to emerge as a leading exporter of cars.
The Vice Chairman of Nissan Motor Company, Mr T Isayama was also present on the occasion.
