Five militants and police constable killed in Kashmir
Srinagar, Sep 7 (UNI) Security forces gunned down five militants while ultras shot dead a constable of the state police in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said.
A Border Security Force (BSF) spokesman said troops of 82 batallion BSF killed two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) at village Gulshan Abad in south Kashmir district of Pulwama early this morning. The encounter ensued after a search party was attacked by the militants hiding in the village.
Acting on troops specific information, cordoned off forest area in Rajwara area of Handwara in north Kashmir yesterday afternoon to nab militants sources informed.
As the troops were sealing the woods, militants attacked with automatic weapons and hurled grenades at them.
The troops retaliated, killing three militants in the night-long encounter. Three AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
Security forces launched a massive search in the nearby forest area, they said.
Sources said militant shot dead a selection grenade constable of Jammu and Kashmir police Abdul Gaffar at Kralgund village last night.
