Encourage tourist activities in Kashmir: Gen Sinha

Srinagar, Sep 7 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha today called for encouraging activities, which were fruitful for attracting tourists to the valley.

Speaking at the prize distribution function of the Greater Kashmir Invitational Golf Tournament here, he said international recognition for golf tourism has prompted all countries to give priority to it.

Gen Sinha appreciated the efforts made by Greater Kashmir Group of Newspapers, the organisers of the tournament, for taking the initiative.

The tournament has been successful with the participation of parliamentarians and prominent golfers, he added.

The Governor said tourists should not be scared of visiting Kashmir.

Recalling that the battle of Waterloo was won on the playfields of harrow and Elon, he said the team spirit always helped in resolving all problems together with cohesiveness and unanimity.
