Centenary year of Vande Mataram celebrated

Kolhapur, Sep 7 (UNI) Centenary year of the patriotic song Vande Mataram was celebrated by various political parties, schools and different organisations here today.

Kolhapur Mayor Ms Sai Kharade joined the celebration programmes held in the city and it's suburb Kasaba Bavade which were also attended by the city corporators and people from all walks of life.

The Congress party organised a function at it's office here to mark the centenary while Shiv Sena activists led it's district unit Chief Rambhau Chavan, sang the song at historic Bindu chowk.

Hindu organisations VHP, Bajarang Dal, local Hindu Ekata Sanghatana activists led by BJP senior leader Subhash Vora took out a procession in the city singing the vande mataram.
