Bihar govt gears up to increase agricultural production
Patna, Sep 7 (UNI) Bihar government has initiated several measures to boost the production of rice, wheat and maize and funds for the same had already been allocated.
Deputy Director Agriculture Dhananjay Tripathy told UNI here that six schemes were being implemented under micro mode management project under which agricultural equipment would be made available to the farmers at subsidised rates.
He said that Rs 28.75 crores had been sanctioned for the project during 2006-07.
Mr Tripathy said that ISOPOM scheme was being implemented for increasing production of pulses, maize and mustard while Rs 9.99 crore had been sanctioned for the purpose.
Steps had also been taken to increase the production of Litchi, Makhana and Spices.
State government would provide grant of Rs 30,000 to farmers for purchasing tractor and power tiller, he said adding 50 percent grant would also be provided for promoting lift irrigation.
"A training camp of 14 weeks would be organised to impart the knowledge of minimising the use of pesticide without having any affect on the overall production," he added.
