200 companies to take part in Index International Trade Fair
Mumbai, Sep 7 (UNI) Keeping an eye on the booming residential furniture sector and other related accessories, Universal Expositions Ltd (UEL) is holding Index International Trade Fair in Mumbai from September 13-17. As many as 200 companies, including 40 per cent foreign companies, are likely to participate in the exhibition.
Briefing the media about it here today, Universal Expositions Group of Companies president, Liyakat Ali Khan said his company has collaborated with Koelnmesse, Germany, for the purpose. The venue of the forthcoming trade fair is Bombay Exhibitions Centre.
Apart from it, the trade fair will also feature a series of seminars on 'The emerging trends in furniture', lighting as well as design and are structured into presentations by eminent designers and members of the industry, he said.
Renowned architect Hafeez Contractor would release the Index Media Pvt Ltd's, which is a part of UEL and the publishers of Index Furniture Journal (IFJ), second magazine 'M+M' (Machine and Material) during the trade fair, he added.
This year, the trade fair encompasses six fairs which include 'Index Furniture Fair', 'Index Office', 'Index Kitchen and Bath', 'Index Light', 'Index W+M' and 'Index Inter-Furn', an international trade-fair on furniture hardware and intermediates, which is supported by the All India Hardware Association, he said.
Arrangements have been made to provide free pavilions for institutions like NID (National Institute of Design) and IDC (Industrial Design Centre) of IIT, he added.
Talking about the Indian furniture scenario, Mr Khan said that though the turnover of the industry was running in Rs 20,000 crore, merely 20 per cent of the industry was coming from the organised sector.
