UP govt may give date for notifying local body polls on Sep 8
Varanasi, Sep 6 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government could spell out the date of issuing notification for holding local body polls in the state during the next hearing of the case in Allahabad High Court on Friday next, State Election Commissioner Aparmita Prasad Singh said here today.
Taking to newspersons here, Mr Singh said local bodies polls could be held within 40 days from the issuance of notification by the government.
He said the State Election Commission had completed all preparations in this regard. As per his calculations, the polling for Nagar Nigams, Nagar Panchayats and Nagar Palika Parishads could be conducted before December.
He said like that Panchayat polls, the SEC would make all efforts to keep the criminals away from the local body polls and added that holding local body polls was a bigger challenge than holding Panchayat polls.
