UNLF Gen Sec to be flown to Manipur Sep 8

Coimbatore, Sep 6 (UNI) The banned United National Liberation Front (UNLF) General Secretary Ibotombi and his associate Salam Bunk, arrested yesterday and lodged in the central prison here, are likely to be flown by a special flight to Manipur on September 8 for further action.

Police sources said Ibotombi was arrested after his discharge from a private hospital following a spinal cord surgery, along with his assistant Bunk, on a case pending against him at Imphal police station in Manipur for unlawful activities.

On a tip-off from Army intelligence about the presence of Ibotombi in Coimbatore city, a police team comprising SP grade officers from Manipur arrived here two days back and arrested Ibotombi and Bunk in coordination with the city police.

Meanwhile 15 students from Manipur and Asom studying in various educational institutions here were picked up by the city police.

The students are likely to be let off after questioning by the Manipur police on their possible links with UNLF.
