Tripura to sing Vande Mataram to mark its 100th year
Agartala, Sep 6 (UNI) The Left Front government in Tripura today directed all primary and secondary schools in the state to recite ''Vande Mataram'' tomorrow to mark the 100th year of national song of India.
The State education department has sent directives to all the primary and secondary education institutions for the recital of the Vande Mataram, an official of the department said.
''It has not been made compulsory to sing the national song. But we have issued directives to all the primary and secondary institutes throughout the state as we had been instructed by the Human Resource Development ministry. We have also mentioned in the directive that at least two stanzas should be recited to mark the centenary of the national song,'' said the official.
When asked whether the national song would be recited in colleges, the official said that a copy of the directive has also been sent by the higher education department.
