Thousands participate in Ganesh immersion festival,

Surat, Sep 6 (UNI) Thousands of people today bid adieu to Lord Ganesh with traditional gaiety here.

The city wore a festive look and Ganesh idols were brought to the banks of the Tapi river for immersion at various points.

A heavy security blanket had been thrown in the city to ensure a peaceful immersion. Police had also banned SMS services from noon till midnight in order to avoid rumour mongering.
