Teenager drowns while witnessing Ganpati Utsava

Mandi, Sep 6 (UNI) Tragedy struck Ganpati Visarjan Utsava here, when a teenaged boy drowned in the Beas river at Hanuman Ghat, where devotees had converged to witness the emersion of Lord Ganpati this evening.

The victim, identified as 15-year old Hansu, fell into the swollen river while witnessing the ceremony. A few youths plunged into the river to save the drowning boy but due to the fast water current the boy got washed away.

The body was yet to be recovered, police said.
