Sukhbir Badal appears at police station

Kotkapura, Sep 6 (UNI) Rajya Sabha member Sukhbir Singh Badal today appeared at a police station here, joining the investigations in a case registered against him for allegedly assaulting a photo journalist.

Mr Badal appeared at the police station this morning and remained there for two and a half hours during which his statement was recorded by the police in the presence of SSP Arunpal Singh.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court had ordered for registration of the case against Mr Badal at the Kotkapura police station following a complaint in which lensman Ajay Verma had alleged that he was slapped and his camera was snatched by Mr Badal during the state assembly elections in February 2002.

A court in Faridkot had yesterday asked Mr Badal to appear at the police station for the police investigations in the case.

Mr Badal has said in his statement that the case was registered against him under political vendetta.
