Singing of Vande Mataram in colleges not mandatory

Chennai, Sep 6 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government has clarified that the recital of 'Vande Mataram' in colleges to mark the centenary of the National Song is not mandatory.

According to an official release, the Central Government had sent a circular that all college students should sing the national song on September seven to commemorate the centenary of the composition of the song.

Now, it has been clarified that it was not must for the college students to sing the song, the release said.
