'Safety Awards' to 11 organisations including ONGC, Railways
New Delhi, Sept 6 (UNI) The Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC), Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI), Railways and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) were among eleven organisations which received the 'Safety Awards' today for adopting safety measures in their operations.
The awards, presented at the 3-day 'Safety Convention 2006' which began here today with more than 300 participants, was in recognition of the safety steps undertaken by the organisations that make life safe and secure, said Pradip Chaturvedi, president 'Safety and Quality Forum'.
The conference, with its thrust on 'Occupational Safety Health and Environment', would focus on 'Food Safety', he said.
''Through this we would advise the governments and local bodies on steps needed to ensure safety in areas as widespread as construction, mining, transport, power and industries,'' Mr Chaturvedi added.
Supported by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Railways and Ministry of Labour and Environment, the conference has been organised by 'Safety and Quality Forum' and Institute of Engineers.
