Newly-wed consume poison; woman dies, husband serious

Karnal, Sep 6 (UNI) A newly-wed woman died and her husband, a constable in the Haryana Police, was battling for life after the two allegedly consumed poison at their residence in this district town, police today said.

Anita and her husband Rakesh, who reportedly tied the knot about two months ago following a love affair, consumed some poisonous substance at their Model Town residence yesterday.

While Anita (24) died late last evening, her husband was in a critical condition in the hospital.

No one from Anita's family had as yet come forward to claim her body while the members of Rakesh's family were tight-lipped about the possible reason behind the consumption of poison by the couple.
