NEC takes initiative to tackle unemployement in NE

Aizawl, Sep 6 (UNI) The North Eastern Council (NEC) has chalked out measures to introduce new schemes this fiscal to tackle unemployement problem in all the NE states, including Sikkim.

NEC has planned programmes like value addition to the region's primary products at primary and secondary stages and increasing family income on mission mode, the official sources said here today.

Besides, NEC would also take steps to reform the education system in the region, the officials said.

In this regard, the North Eastern Regional Bamboo Mission, the North East Regional Horticulture Mission and the North East Regional Trade Mission are being set up, they added.

A North Eastern Regional Education Council would also be formed to recommend suitable measures for human resource development in the region including upgradation of the quality and standard of scientific education in particular.
