Naxal zonal commander slain in police encounter

Ambikapur, Sep 6 (UNI) A naxal zonal commander was today killed in a police encounter in Jhalria village in Chhattisgarh's Ambikapur district, police said today.

Following a tip-off that naxal zonal commander Narayan Khairwar was present in the forest along with his friends, the police launched a combing operation.

During the search operation, an encounter between police and the ultras started in which Narayan, who was active in Sarguja, Balrampur and Surajpur Police Districts, was killed.

Although there were reports of another extremist being killed, police did not confirm it.

The Police seized huge cache of weapons from the spot.
